One of the seminal influences in my young life was this book called The Hodgepodge Book by Duncan Emrich. I loved the book so much that in our public library here in West Seneca, New York I was the only kid that ever took it out! Over and over and over again... I basically had it in my possession for over a decade! I must have read it hundreds of times... cover to cover. To the point of obsession! I was enamored with this book. More than any Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss & even my beloved Roald Dahl books, Boxcar Children Series or even my multiple, dog-earred editions of the Hobbit. It was MY book. As if it was made just for me. For my eyes only. I was the only one in the world that knew of it's existence. It was full of Folklore, poems & curiosities of all sorts. It was awesome and as I grew older the urge to create something similar myself never passed until, as I created my first show in California, it dawned on me that I should try my hand at a bit of the same type of poetry that The Hodgepodge Book contained. So, on this page you'll find all manner of off-kilter, silly poetry illustrated and written by me. You'll recognize many of these from the show along with a few that will probably for one reason or another, never get used on the show. -AA
